: customer service is dead :

customer service is dead... and it smells bad.

My computer crashed. Noooooooo! My first instinct was to find a small computer repair shop, because I had good experiences before. However, I was new in town and didn’t want to take a risk, so I took the computer to the Best Buy Geek Squad. And why not? They have a funny name.

So, my hard drive needed to be restored, and the Geek Squad was on the job. I was told that there was 1 order ahead of mine. Shouldn’t take long, I thought. Surely no more than 3 days tops.

Think again. It took Best Buy 8 days to do a job that shouldn’t take more than 3, and I needed my computer! Every time I called the store, no one answered. I would call them every hour from 11-6, but no one picked up. When I finally talked to a Geek Squad ‘agent’, I was told excuse after excuse about why the job wasn’t done, including ‘we’re just understaffed’. I called the corporate office to register complaint, but who should I call to register my complaint about the corporate office?

It was a customer service nightmare, but I learned my lesson. I will never shop at another Best Buy. And in the future, I’m choosing to give my dollars to independent businesses.

With this in mind, I created the : customer service is dead : network. Long may it live!
